Week 5 (01/12/2014)

Wow! What a busy week! Our Year 3/4/5 play is looking pretty fantastic, ready for next week! We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it on!

If you are joining us for either performance on Monday or Tuesday night (6pm!) please remember that although photography is permitted, we ask that no photos are published on the internet.

When we’ve managed to get back into the classroom(!), we’ve been brushing up on our subtraction skills and writing instructions.

Now that we’re in December, we have been planning and writing an instruction manual on how to decorate the classroom for Christmas! Next week we are going to try out each other’s’ instructions by attempting to make the decorations to transform our classroom!

Mrs Barlow is still going on about grammar, constantly! We’ve just about got expanded noun phrases sorted, and getting there with adverbial phrases, but we’re still struggling a bit with subordinating conjunctions! It’s all so confusing!

It turns out, that when it comes to subtraction, we’re pretty awesome at it! We’ve mostly been using number line subtract as it’s completely fool-proof! It can be really easy to make mistakes when using columns, so it’s always worth at least checking with a number line.  We’d be more than happy to show our parents how number line subtraction works! (At least, that’s what Mrs Barlow thinks!)

Have a wonderful weekend!
