In English, we started the week by writing our own adventure stories linked to ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’. We thought about everything that we needed to include in the story in order to make it exciting for the reader. Then we worked in groups to give each other feedback and purple polish our work. Later in the week, we continued to read ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’. We thought about happened as Lila found the Fire-Fiend.
In Maths we have been learning about negative numbers. We have been solving problems such as –
4, 2, 0, -2, ___, ___
If the temperature is 3 degrees and it drops by 7 degrees, what will the new temperature be? (We solved this type of problem by drawing a number line).
David counted back from 3, he said 3, 2, 1, 0, -0, -1, -2, -3 is he right? How do you know?
In History, we thought about what would make life easy or difficult when living in Ancient Egypt. We learnt the importance of the River Nile for watering crops, drinking, washing, fishing and leisure.
There have been some excellent homework tasks this week, well done! Homework will be marked and returned, please remember to keep handing work in by a Friday of each week (2 weeks for extra hot). A number of children have been choosing to create PowerPoint presentations for their homework, this is great! However, children should not bring USB sticks into school so please can any work such as this be emailed to Mrs Corrigan –
