Week 4 (26/06/17)

This week we have continued to write stories based on the book ‘Wild’. We have used our story maps to help us retell stories. We’ve had to make sure that the stories are written in the first person, that we’ve included powerful adjectives and adverbs, and that we’ve started our sentences in different ways.

In maths we have been looking at multiplication and division. We have learnt that multiplication is the same as repeated addition. We can record 6 x 3, for example, as 6+6+6. Multiplying is a more efficient way of repeatedly adding. We have been looking at different methods for dividing. We can divide by sharing or by grouping. E.g. 8 ÷ 2 = 4

In science we have thought of our own questions to answer. For example, ‘Is the person with the longest feet the tallest?’ We’ve also planned investigations to answer our questions, thinking carefully about our method and prediction.

This week we were lucky enough to have tennis coaching, to tie in with Wimbledon. We were all really sensible and played very well. It was great fun. We’ve also been busy practising for sports day. We had a great time practising lots of different races and events.

Have a great weekend!
