Dear Parents/Carers,
This week the children watched ‘The Hobbit’ they were all really engaged in the production and talked about what they enjoyed when they returned to the classroom.
On Tuesday and Wednesday the children visited the prayer spaces they talked about enjoying the “colourful bubbles, like butterflies that took our prayers to God”.
This week the children have been playing games in phonics to practise listening skills. Blending words to cross the river and identifying instrument sounds. The children listened to the story of “Owl babies” they talked about the children in the owl family and we talked about how all families are different. The children have learnt about labels and how they can tell us more information, the children drew a picture of their family and the adult scribed labels, some children challenged themselves to write their own!
In maths the children have been learning to take a given number of objects from a larger group and to talk about how they know how many there are. The children are encouraged to talk about how they know how many they have counted out.
Thank you to parents and carers who have attended the reading meetings this week. If you have not yet signed up we do still have space for the reading meeting after school on Monday 2nd October from 3.15-4.00pm.
You can practise counting out objects by counting out knives and forks for meals, build a tower using a given number of objects from resources you have at home, Lego, Duplo or bricks. As a challenge collect a given number of conkers, acorns, leaves, and sticks from the great outdoors.
