This week we have been reading “Slowly, Slowly, Slowly said the Sloth” by Eric Carle.
Last week we were learning about exclamation marks, what they look like and how we use them when reading and writing. This week we have been learning about question marks, what they look like and how we can use them in our writing.
In the story the animals ask the sloth lots of questions. We have been talking about how we ask or write questions. We know how to spot questions because they start with a word like What, Why, When or Where and always end with a?
We have been learning about sloths and where they live. These are some of the questions we had to answer. Ask your child these questions, see what they can remember.
- There are two kinds of sloth. What are they called?
- How do they spend their time?
- What do they eat?
- Where do they sleep? .
- What colour are they? And why?
- What lives in their fur?
We have watched some videos to find out facts about sloths. We have used an atlas to find Costa Rica where a lot of sloths live.
In maths lessons we have been working on our number bonds to ten and beyond. We have been using the vocabulary Part and Whole.
Next week we will be adding by counting on.
In science we have started learning about the names for the main parts of the body. Next week we will be learning about our senses. Hopefully we will go for a nature walk on Friday morning to see what we can touch, see, hear, smell and taste ( a snack! ).
