Well there goes another week and how much we have covered. The children have been experimenting over the last couple of weeks with different ways of expanding their ideas using grammar such as prepositions and adverbial questions. Now though, we have taken our first steps into the realm of complex sentences where subordinate conjunctions do mystifying battle with essential and non-essential relative clauses in attempts to baffle us further… For anyone feeling a little out of their depth at this point may I recommend grammarmonster.com an excellent site for children and adults alike which breaks each concept down into small chunks with accurate examples while avoiding the dangers of over saturation.
The times tables are going really well so thanks to everyone who is finding the time to spend a few moments in the week to help their children with learning and testing. The number work in class has focussed on mental strategies for adding whole and decimal numbers and will continue to do so for a few more days. The key question here is not ‘What is the answer?’ but ‘Which technique is most efficient?’
