Week 4 (14/11/2016)

Dear Parents/Carers,

This week we have been trying to answer the children’s question ‘How are shoes made?’ We sang the rhyme ‘Cobbler, cobbler, mend my shoe’. We talked about what a cobbler does and what we already know about how shoes are made. We talked about some of the materials that shoes are made from and thought of other questions we wanted to answer. We shared the story of ‘The Elves and the Shoemaker’ sequenced the story and retold it in our own words.

In Maths the children have been learning about 2d shape. We have been finding 2d shapes in the environment and talking about how many sides and corners they have. The children have been trying to explain that a square has sides all the same length and for rectangles opposite sides are equal. During our hall time the children explored balance and created different shapes they could make with their bodies.

The children have been working really hard in the hall this week to begin to put together their nativity. Towards the end of next week they will be joined by year six in rehearsals, they are very excited about performing to their family on Monday 12th December. Please make sure you have filled in the reply slip, attached to the newsletter as to whether you would like tickets. We look forward to seeing you there!

Remember as the children complete home learning please send it into class so they can share it with their friends.

Have a great weekend,

Miss Zimmerman, Mrs Bowden and Mrs Roberts.
