Finding a missing numbers to make long multiplication correct – problem solving by writing out the calculation and using our number knowledge to arrive at the correct answer. This also works if we have the answer and now need to work out what the numbers should be.

Studying the extract of text reveals that there is a major connection between Gioga and the seals, and there is a surrounding sense of awe and wonder, which makes it an effective piece of writing, It can be seen that this is a very subtle style because the author embeds the connection between Gioga and the seals using hints and clues in her description in this scene.

Science Having studied the results from our Respiratory Rates for different activities it is clear that our breaths have increased on some activities. The reason for this is because for the more physically demanding the activities the more oxygen is needed to supply the muscles. The oxygen in the blood has to travel to each muscle. By inhaling the oxygen in the air quickly, by breathing the muscles can be supplied quickly. |

We are working on ‘ce’ sound and sorting into categories of ‘ce words and ‘others’: elephants & underpants (sounds like they have a ‘ce’ at the end of the words),

History and Geography
Still considering WWI we have been studying some pictures taken of women’s roles during the war. The soldiers at the front line needed lots of weapons and ammunitions for the fighting. Women were used to make the guns and explosives needed. Women had a new profile, and were the new workforce. Women were taking the place of men. Working in close contact with high explosives turned your skin yellow.

They are starting to look really good. Each scene has been loaded onto the computers and we are editing them by putting all the different scenes together and including credits.
Year 5 exercise books
We are going to be bringing home some of the old books we used last year. They don’t need to come back to school again – they are ours forever!
