First of all I would like to say how impressed I have been with the quantity and quality of some of the homework. It is clear to see that the children are enjoying the variety of choices and have invested considerable time and effort, and parents too, in completing their work.
Last week we all enjoyed learning about William Shakespeare. Many children had researched information about him and we all found out some new and interesting facts.
This week have been learning about the author Anthony Browne and read some of his books. We were thinking about the main characters, what they looked like and what kind of person they might be if we actually met them. We have been focusing on Anthony Browne’s books featuring a character called Willy. As we have been enjoying the stories we have been looking for similarities between the books and thinking about the feelings of the characters.
In maths we have been working on a range of skills including number bonds, multiplication and partitioning numbers.
In science we have been learning about habitats and thinking about the various ways plants and animals have adapted to their surroundings.
In art we have been learning about an American artist called Georgia O’Keefe who is most famous for her colourful pictures of flowers, skyscrapers and Mexican landscapes. We will be exploring more of her paintings over the next few weeks.
