Week 3 (19/09/2016)

We had a great start to this this week watching a performance of ‘Alice in Wonderland’.

In English this week we have been focusing on grammar. Linked to ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’ we have learnt how to identify subjects, verbs, nouns and adjectives in sentences. We also looked at how we can include adverbs in sentences and then how to re order words to create a fronted adverbial e.g. Swiftly, Lila climbed up the dangerous mountain. This week we have also been using a thesaurus and we have been getting to grips with using the purple pen to identify how we have improved our work.

In Maths we have been rounding 2, 3 and 4 digit numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. We learnt the rule of 5 to tell us whether we need to round numbers up or down. We have also been working on counting in 25’s.

In History, we looked at pictures of objects from Ancient Egypt and we had to try to guess what we thought the item might have been. We all had some really good ideas even when some of the objects looked a bit strange!

Homework tasks have been coming in this week and we have been very impressed with the quality of some of the work. Homework will be marked and returned, please remember that a second task (or first if an extra hot task was done) is due in by next Friday.

Well done to everyone who read every day last week. Keep reading!
