Week 3 (19/01/2015)

This week in English, we have been thinking about all of the traditional stories that we have read over the past few weeks. We have used the ideas in these stories to plan and write our own traditional stories. At the end of the week we self-assessed our work and also peer marked against our success criteria.

In Maths this week, we have been learning about how to find a fraction of a number e.g. 4/6 of 42. We know that we first need to find 1/6 of the number and then multiply to find 4/6. We found that it is much easier to do this fraction work when we know our times tables and division facts – please continue to work on this at home. Next week we will be looking at angles and parallel/ perpendicular lines.

In Geography this week, we thought about what we have that makes our lives good. We then compared this to the lives of people in Chembakolli. We also looked at different types of houses in Chembakolli village. Next week, we will be looking at Chanda, a typical woman who lives in Chembakolli and we will learn about her daily routine.

In Science this week we have been looking at melting and solidifying chocolate. Next week, we will be planning our own investigations.

We have been busy in Art making the characters for our animations. We have also had a go with our new cameras. Next week we will be taking all of the photographs for our stop-frame animations.
