In English and guided reading, we have continued to read ‘The Promise’ by Nicola Davies. We have thought carefully about how the mood of the girl is changing and how we can use evidence in the text to support our ideas. We have been learning about helping verbs and how these can be diagrammed along with the subject and the main verb. Here is an example –

In Maths we have been learning how to represent numbers in different ways. We have been using place value counters to show that a number such as 4537 can be represented as 4000 + 500 + 30 + 7 or 4000 + 500 + 20 + 17.
In Computing we have been using Scratch to start creating animated stories based around The Promise. We will continue to work on these over the next few weeks.
