This week we have been refreshing our memories about being ‘purple learners’. We made a list of positive learning behaviours and are now going to try really hard to be the best learners we can be.
In our English lessons we have watched some Paddington Bear clips and collected a range of adjectives to describe his personality and appearance. We had a go at writing similes about him – ask us what a simile is. Later in the week we wrote descriptions of Paddington, adding as much detail as possible.
In maths we have been learning about partitioning numbers into tens and ones. We have also been discussing the importance of recording the digits in 2-digit numbers in the correct order so that they represent the correct number of tens and ones.
In ICT we learned about how to stay safe when we’re using the internet. We read an e-book about Smartie the Penguin, which reminded us to always tell an adult if we are unsure about anything that happens while we are online.
Homework menus have been sent out today along with a list of common words that the children need to learn to spell. We will be focusing on these words in class, but it would be helpful if you could also practise them at home and encourage the children to spell them correctly when completing homework tasks. Please start with the Year 1 words because there are still many words on the list that the children mis-spell when writing.
