Week 3 (17/11/2014)

In class two this week we have been talking about characters in stories. We recently read a book by Roald Dahl called Matilda. We discussed the plot, the settings and the characters. We had to think about parts of the book we liked and say why we liked them. We also had to think about parts of the book or characters that we didn’t like and say why we didn’t like them. Following our discussions we had a go at writing a book review.

In maths we have been learning the language of position. We have also made a start on learning the concept of times tables, concentrating on the two and five times tables. For example, if you have 3 bunnies and they each have 2 ears, then 3 lots of 2 will be 6.      3 X 2 = 6

If you have the chance to have a go at home that might help your child to understand the concept of multiplication.

Homework task: Use the writing frame to write a book review.

Choose a book you have read or one that you know and write about it. Try to give as much detail as you can. Make sure you can tell an adult what the story is about and talk through your ideas before writing them down.
