This week we have been reading an Indian tale called ‘Gobble you up’. It’s all about a cunning and wily jackal that eats lots of different animals until he eventually bursts open! We’ve used this text as a basis for writing instructions for trapping a jackal. We started with a ‘You will need’ box and then went on to write our instructions. We thought very carefully about starting our sentences in different ways and using imperative (bossy!) verbs.
In maths, we have been revising strategies to efficiently subtract. We have mainly focussed on drawing tens and ones and taking away the correct amount. We know that if there aren’t enough ones, we need to exchange one of our sticks of ten for ten ones.
In art we have looked at how, in many Indian festivals, elephants are beautifully decorated. We firstly looked at lots of different images of decorated elephants. We then coloured a decorated elephant and finally we used paint to make our own wonderful patterned elephants.
