Week 3 (06/03/17)

In English this week we have been reading the chapter of Stig of the Dump when Stig and Barney go hunting. We have thought carefully about what is happening and how Barney and Stig have very different views about what they should be doing. We have re-written this part of the story from Stig’s point of view. While we were doing this we thought carefully about varying our sentence openers and we tried to use imaginative vocabulary.

In Maths we have started working on subtraction. We have used our place value counters to solve subtraction calculations and then we moved on to an expanded method for column subtraction. Ask us to solve 6382 – 2669 =

In Geography we thought about how the land in our local area has been used and what has been built e.g. schools, play parks, shops, farming fields. We then continued to think about the area around Cardiff Bay and we looked at the land use there. There are some similarities between the two areas but we found lots of differences too!

This week, we started to play the recorder! We had remembered the notes B, A and G so we quickly refreshed ourselves on how to play Hot Crossed Buns! Please can any child who has their own recorder bring it into school on a Tuesday for the next few weeks.
