Week 2 (23/4/18)

In our topic sessions this week we have been writing information texts about our school. We thought carefully about the different things we could say about our school. We then planned using sub-headings, which helped us to organise our ideas into paragraphs. We have tried really hard to use adjectives to describe things, to use commas in lists, to present our work clearly and to use adverbs and prepositions at the beginning of our sentences.

In maths we have been revisiting some of the key concepts that we have covered so far. We have partitioned numbers in different ways, used a range of strategies for adding 2, 2-digit numbers and looked at how we can estimate answers to calculations, so we know if our answers are sensible or not.

In science we have started to find out about the different habitats of plants and animals. We have also begun to think about how animals and plants are adapted to the environment in which they live.

In P.E we have been doing gymnastics. We have tied this in with our previous work on position and direction, and have been travelling in different directions.

In ICT we learnt how to use a search engine on a website. We found out about the Indian village of Chembakolli and then watched a video about life in Chembakolli.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Lucas, Mrs Marsh and Mrs Scott
