This week we have been enjoying drama activities in our English lessons to develop our understanding of characters in books. Our drama was mostly based on characters from the book, Gangsta Granny.
Adopting roles.
We focused on a part of the story where Ben upsets his mum in the car. We worked in pairs and threes to ponder aloud some of the possibilities for what the characters might say to each other.
Hot Seating.
If you are in the HOT SEAT you have to pretend you are one of the characters in the book and answer questions. The rest of the class have to ask you questions. They can’t ask you closed questions where the answer could be ‘yes’ or ‘no’. If you are in the Hot Seat you have to give reasons for your answers. We took turns to be Ben or Gran, it was good fun.
Thought-tracking : We had to adopt a character to focus on. We had to think of something our character might be thinking and be ready to say what we are thinking.
In maths we have been revisiting a number of topics including; adding three numbers, knowing numbers that are 1, 10 or 100 more or less than 2 or 3 digit number, measuring in m and cm and using coordinates.
In our Art we have used Picasso to inspire and create some colourful portraits.
As the weather has been so wonderful we have been outside looking at plants and creating artwork based on the variety of leaves to be found within the school grounds.
Home task: Adding three numbers
Be able to add 3 numbers that = 10
Be able to add 3 numbers that = 15
Be able to add 3 numbers that = 20
Write all the combinations and solve the calculations for each.
