Week 2 (09/11/2015)

On Wednesday of this week we went to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. We spent the morning in the Ancient Egypt galleries where we completed 3 different activities.

Firstly, we thought about what life would have been like for people living in Ancient Egypt. We were given pictures of objects that we had to try and find in the gallery. Once we had found the item we had to look at the information in order to work out what the object was.

Then we looked carefully at a temple from Ancient Egypt – we had lots of great ideas as to how the temple would have been moved from Egypt to the Ashmolean! We looked carefully at the pictures on the wall of the temple and worked out which person was the pharaoh. Then we were able to handle some original objects from Ancient Egypt. We weren’t told what the objects were, so we had to look carefully to try and identify them.

Finally we thought about the afterlife. We had a look at the mummies and we had a good look around to find out what else the Ancient Egyptians would have taken with them to their next life.

We all had a great time!

Homework task for this week –Creating an Ancient Egyptian god. This work needs to be handed in by Tuesday 17th November.
