This week in English, we have continued to read our abridged version of The Secret Garden. We have been talking about Mary and how her personality is changing throughout the story. At the beginning of the week, we looked at different types of sentences –
Multi-clause by co-ordination –
She was furious but she didn’t cry.
The bird’s friendly little whistle made her feel better and she almost smiled.
Multi-clause by subordination –
To her surprise, she opened a hidden door.
She discovered a long walkway outside the garden walls, where thick ivy grew.
In Maths, we have continued to look at bar models to solve problems such as –
There are 12 blue marbles in a bag. There are 16 more red marbles than blue marbles in the bag. How many red marbles are there?
In Computing and Art we will be creating our own stop-frame animations. We have started to think about the scenery and characters for our animations. We are in need of cardboard boxes (the children know what size!) if you have any spare, please send them in by Monday, thank you.
