Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back, we hope you all had a lovely break. This week the children have been using their skills to paint, draw and model what they did during their half term holiday. The children then used their knowledge of letters and sounds to write a sentence about their holiday. As a class the children talked about what makes a good sentence.
In maths the children have been learning to use objects to support them adding two groups of objects together. The children have also begun recording their answers. You could help at home by using objects adding a given number more and asking how many altogether. The children are becoming more confident with recognising the written numeral, the children have numeral flashcards in their book bags this week from 1-20. You can help your child at home by playing games with the flashcards so they can recognise these numerals quickly.
The children have been practising reading digraphs and trigraphs so that they become familiar with seeing them in words. The children have also been finding the correct grapheme to represent a sound when writing a word. You can help at home by ensuring that you are reading and using flashcards daily to reinforce what the children are learning in school.
This week we have discussed different animals and started talking about the different places that animals live in and learnt that this is called its habitat.
During Independent Learning Time this week the children have been exploring role-play and using resources to represent different objects, the children explored their own experiences such as swimming and building a chocolate factory!
Have a fantastic weekend,
Miss Zimmerman, Mrs Bowden and Mrs Conway
