We have continued to work on fractions but doing them as word problems. It is important to look at the problem and find the ‘whole’ or the ‘parts’ whatever information we have been given.
English
We are writing up what we did in half term. Sounds easy, we are doing it in the form of a rhyming performance poem.
Stanza = a grouped set of lines in a poem
Verse = a group of words determined by the rhythm
Our top 5 writing skills for free verse poetry:
- Descriptive writing – 5 senses, similes, metaphors and personification
- Expression
- Atmosphere – feelings
- Vocabulary – adjectives, adverbs and nouns
- Rhythm
- Rhyme
- minimum of 3 stanzas, maximum 6
We have been looking at newspapers and identifying features of report writing. there are broadsheets and tabloids.
Grammar
We watched a video about recapping what we already know. Prepositional phrases cannot be on just the prepositional word. Or it would be a adverb. for example:
The cat ran around the tree (Prepositional Phrase);
The cat ran around (Adverb).
