In English and guided reading this week we have started to read an abridged version of ‘The Secret Garden’. We started off by looking at some of the new vocabulary in the first few chapters and then we began to read. We have been thinking about Mary, what her personality is like and what has happened to her in the story. In our English lessons we have been continuing with our grammar, we have been diagramming sentences with adjectives/ adverbs and we have been recapping subordinate clauses.
In maths, we have continued to learn about fractions. We started the week by counting in fractions e.g. 3/5, 5/5, 7/5. Then we moved on to adding and subtracting fractions where the denominators are the same e.g. 4/6 + 3/6 = or 8/9 – 5/9 =
On Monday we finally got to upload all of the photos from our stop-frame animations onto Movie Maker. We had to set the timing for each photo, check that none of the photos needed to be taken out and finally we added a title and credits. We are looking forward to watching the animations next Monday. All of the films will be available to view via the blog next week!
A new takeaway homework grid should have come home this week. The children are welcome to continue to use the Term 3 grid if there is a task which interests them.
