Welcome back! We hope you all had a fantastic Easter break. This term Class R’s theme is ‘Growing’.
On Monday we shared our Easter holiday news, we talked about the exciting places we had been, people we saw and the children talked about the Easter egg hunts they had been on. Later in the week the children used their knowledge of letters and sounds to write about their holiday. The children reminded each other what their sentences needed.
In Maths, the children have been practising their skills of adding and subtracting. We have talked about which way they need to count along the number line when adding and subtracting and used objects and number lines to count on and back. At home you can help by placing numerals in order, talking about positions on the number line. On Monday we had our living eggs arrive. We have been watching them carefully and doing observational drawings of the eggs and newly hatched chicks. We have learnt some new language including ‘pipping’ which is what the eggs do when they are tapping the inside of the eggs and pieces of egg start to fall off. Next week we will be creating a diary of a chick. The children will continue to learn about how to care for the newly hatched chicks as well as their life cycle and other wildlife life cycles. In mathematics we will be playing games with number lines and making our own number lines as well as use language to describe positions of numerals on the number line.
This week we have had a student, Miss Chloe, supporting the children with their learning on Wednesday she read them the story which they enjoyed.
