Welcome back! We hope you’ve all had a lovely summer break. The children have been telling us all about their holidays and have enjoyed sharing their postcards. Well done to all the children who completed the summer reading challenge – prizes will be given out soon!
To get us ready for another year of fantastic learning and hard work, we have spent the week reminding ourselves about challenging ourselves and being ‘purple learners’. We thought of all the things that help us learn (movers) and all the things that prevent us from learning (blockers). We also discussed the difference between helpful talk and unhelpful talk – ask us to explain the difference. Finally we considered what it means to be a successful learner and wrote letters to the younger children in the school to explain how they could be successful purple learners too.
In our music lesson we composed our own song about purple learning, to the tune of ‘I Hear Thunder’. Ask us to sing it to you – here are the words:

Next week we will begin our London topic; we have already begun discussing what we already know and what we would like to find out. We also watched aerial footage of London and used a website to find out some facts about the city.
Homework menus will be sent out next week. Our class curriculum talk will be on Wednesday 14th September at 3.15pm.
