We enjoyed seeing all the parents at the parent’s evenings last week. We hope that you were given all the appropriate information required to help support your children at home and to understand where they are and what they are working towards. If you would like to purchase any of the Level Up books, we are still taking orders.
Our Christmas trees officially arrive today and the children are looking forward to decorating them. You can feel the excitement in the air, the first day of opening our advent calendars and the countdown has officially begun!
There is so much going on during the Christmas bustle and flurry. The staff all are working extra hard to ensure a smooth and eventful final few weeks. We look forward to welcoming you to our Christmas concerts, performances and church services and hope you are able to join us for all the festivities. We certainly have made sure that there are events for everyone!
This week we are talking about what ‘service’ means to us. Our school charity is Make a Wish, but we have also been focusing on our community around us. We are still collecting extra boxes of chocolates or Christmas biscuits to deliver to the senior citizens of Crowmarsh. We hope that this simple token will ensure that they see how much we appreciate them and that even if they don’t have any family that attend our school, they are still a part of our community and always welcome inside our school doors.
A verse that links with our value of ‘Service’ comes from Ephesians 4:29, “Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” The children heard a story today about a terrible robber who everyone was terrified of. However, the moment someone stopped and said an encouraging word his, “heart melted like wax.” Sometimes ‘Service’ only needs to be a kind word or a warming smile. Sometimes, that is all it takes. This is what we are focusing on as we approach the holiday season – the best gift is in the act of giving – and ‘our time’ is often the most precious gift of all.
