How quickly this term has flown by! We have been so busy learning about a range of different topics, exploring possibilities and investigating the world around us, that we are already at the end of our first term. So much has been going on that our school literally pulses with the energy and enthusiasm of everyone inside! Crowmarsh Gifford is truly an exhilarating place to be!
For the past two weeks we have been discussing the word ‘Charitable’ and linking it to our school value of Service. Children are keen to talk about ways to help others and ways to encourage each other within school. We watched the video below that stimulated lots of discussion about the small things that we can do each day that can make a significant impact on those around us. Our children know so well, that sometimes all that is needed is a simple smile or an encouraging word…..ask your child tonight about what they think they can do (something so small) that can completely change someone’s attitude? See what they say…….
This week saw the first in our series of parent internet safety. Mr Lovegrove, a ThinkUKnowUK and CEOP trained teacher, has been delivering our Internet Safety sessions for our school for two years now. We take internet safety very seriously here and urge ALL of our parents to attend these sessions. Things change so dramatically in the world of ‘safeguarding’ that even if you attended training last year, you will always learn something new at another session. After January, look out for our child and teacher sessions offered to year 4 and above.
Today your children will have had an Internet Safety Assembly which has following one about the ICT Child Code of Conduct. Today, Mrs Corrigan has discussed how we can begin keeping ourselves safe and every classroom from Year 1 up now have posters up on their walls which will be referred to every time the children login to the internet. Children are taught discrete Online and E-Safety Lessons throughout the year and this year Mrs Corrigan will be delivering these herself to ensure consistency and continuity across the school helping to safeguard all of our children here and at home.
