Week 5 (4/10/19)

In English this week we have continued with our grammar work and we learnt about how helping verbs are used with main verbs to create verb phrases. We have also been learning how to use a sentence of 3 for description. This is where a sentence with three clauses is used to describe a character or something that is happening. Towards the end of the week, we started to write diary entries as the young girl in the story. In reading, we have continued with ‘The Promise’, we have thought carefully about what is happening in the city now that the girl is planting the acorns.

In maths we have been ordering and comparing numbers. We learnt how to use the inequality sign to compare pairs of numbers and we ordered sets of 4 digit numbers by looking carefully at the digits. In fluency we have continued to work on increasing our recall of pairs of numbers to 100 and we have been using a range of strategies for subtraction.

Please remember that Class 4 are going to Pitt Rivers Museum next Wednesday. All children will require a coat, drink and packed lunch.
