This will be a relatively short blog because I am fully man-flued up and need to curl up in a corner at
the earliest opportunity.
English
The latest piece of description has really met expectations, with a real emphasis on the image being
created. The class are really beginning to think like authors and making decisions based on the
impact for the reader, making all the work more purposeful.
Maths
The teaching of algebra ended at the beginning of the week allowing us to focus on the problem
solving aspects and applications. This has been really useful to develop confidence in known routines and to see how useful the bar-model can be in unpacking even the simplest of formula, e.g. 3t = t+3.
Homework
I have set different amounts of homework for different children to make it as relevant as possible.
There is no compulsion to complete all of it. Instead, it’s an opportunity to rehearse skills that we have been using in class to keep them fresh. Answers for the Barvember work are available online but it
was too technically challenging for me to pull them all together into one coherent document.
