This week we have continued to read ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’. We have been thinking about the characters and how the plot is developing. In English we have been planning and writing a letter as Lalchand to his daughter Lila after she has left to go to Mount Merapi.
In Maths we have been continuing with our rounding work. We have been able to apply everything that we know so that we can round 4 digit numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. We have also been using our knowledge to solve rounding problems.
This week in history, we have been learning about why trenches were important during World War 1 and what life would have been like in the trenches. We discovered that the soldiers would have lived in damp, muddy conditions often surrounded by rats and disease. They would have had very little sleep, not much to eat and always had to be prepared for enemy attack.
On Monday, we all accessed our school email accounts. We enjoyed being able to open and reply to an email. Once we have finished this unit of work, the children will be able to bring their email address details home.
