This week in English children have been receiving verbal feedback about their work so far. They will be bringing a copy of their last piece of written work home with their next steps. They can practice implementing their next steps at home during the holidays if they choose to write.
At the same time we held a House Group Challenge to write an autumnal paragraph. We extended our writing using adverbial questions. The results were impressive by all groups. The winning group consisted of Maxim, Sophie, Lucy, Olivia and James. Their written piece was –
‘The wild wind whispered like a hundred scary Autumn ghosts in the windy midnight sky. The willow branches fell to the ground as the wind blew silently across the land. The wind rustled leaves along the stony path.’
We have been very busy in maths this week! The children have been practising their adding up and subtracting using number lines and looking at the numbers’ place value (even working in the thousands!). Please ask your child to demonstrate this. We have also been counting in 2s, 4s, 8s, 50s, and 100s. We have even been challenging ourselves to problem solve.
We visited a local caravan park as part of our geography topic. We questioned some holiday makers to get information about what they like about the local area. We collected information about Wallingford and Crowmarsh to make our own leaflet back in class.
In Art we painted our hands which represent autumn leaves on our class collage. We also sponge painted poppies for a future Remembrance Sunday project.
