Week 7 (15/10/18)

In English we have been writing our own continuations of The Promise by Nicola Davies. We have been thinking carefully about what the thief might do with the acorns. Class 4 have all been working hard on their targets and we are developing editing skills. In reading we have been exploring the effect that the repetition of events in the story has on the reader.

In maths this week we have been looking at rounding numbers. We started off by rounding 2 and 3 digit numbers to the nearest 10 and then we moved onto rounding 3 digit numbers to the nearest 100. We will be continuing this after half term and build up to being able to round a 4 digit number to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. Please continue to work on learning times tables over half term.

On Monday we visited Bridge Villa Campsite. Although a rainy Monday in October wasn’t ideal for surveying visitors, we did get to speak to two lovely gentlemen who told us all about why they enjoy coming to this area, what they do while they are here and what they like about their caravan holidays. Thank you very much to Mrs Townsend for allowing us to visit the campsite and for sharing information about why people like holidaying in Crowmarsh/ Wallingford. Today we have gathered all of our information and have created posters that explain what makes our local area popular with visitors.

Please remember to read with your child as often as possible. I will continue to take in reading records on a Monday.
