Week 6 (21/5/18)

On Monday we went into the Explorer Dome to learn about the environment. We found out about different habitats on Earth and how animals have been adapted in order to suit their environment. We also learnt about deforestation and how we can look out for paper/ wooden items that have come from sustainable environments.

In English this week, we have been writing and editing a letter from Barney home to his Mum or Dad. We have been following our success criteria in order to ensure that our work for example, has a range of sentence starters, is written in the past tense and follows the structure of an informal letter. In reading we have explored the speech that Lou makes to the tribe and in our working groups we have written our own speeches. We have also finished reading ‘Stig of the Dump’ and we discussed the end of the story.

In maths, we have started to work on time. Initially we recapped how to tell the time on an analogue clock. If your child if unsure about this some extra practise over half term would be really beneficial. Towards the end of the week we moved on to converting 12 hour to 24 hour clock.

In Computing this week, we spent some more time completing our maze games. We had to think carefully about how to debug our games in order to ensure that they work effectively.

We hope that you all have a lovely half term.
