In English and reading this week, we have continued to explore Stig of the Dump. We have thought about The Snargets and the way these boys are presented to us and we have been looking carefully at what happened when Granny’s house was broken in to. On Friday we planned a police report about the robbery and we will be writing these next week. We have also been continuing to develop our understanding of prepositional phrases and we have been learning how to diagram these types of sentences.
In maths, we have been working hard on division. We have been dividing 2 and 3 numbers by sharing into groups. We will be continuing with this next week when we begin to explore division with remainders.
In history we learnt about the three ruling systems that the Romans used. We looked closely at the evidence given for each system and we then decided which one was ‘best’. In this lesson, we also started to look at the spread of the Roman Empire and we learnt which countries were under Roman control at the height of the Empire. Next time we will be learning about why the Romans wanted to invade England.
In science this week, we all enjoyed making musical instruments from junk modelling. We thought carefully about how to make an effective sound.
