Our English work this week has been focused on narrative. We have asked ourselves the question ‘What makes a good story?’ Having shared an example story, we decided that our stories needed to have a good introduction, an exciting build-up and problem/dilemma, and a clear ending. We started writing our stories and tried to add detail and description to our sentences by using our adjective and adverb questions. Ask us what these are.
We have continued to revisit some of the key Year 2 concepts in maths, focusing on: subtracting a 2 digit number from another 2 digit number without regrouping; using an inverse calculation to find a missing number (addition/subtraction) and using multiplication or division to solve problems involving the 2, 5 or 10 times table facts.
In science we have continued our work on habitats and have learned about animals in cold, hot and underwater areas. We compared a polar bear, a camel and a shark, thinking about how they are suited to the environment in which they live. Ask us what their habitats are like and in what ways they have adapted.
