This week we have been learning about the features of newspaper reports and have discussed the purposes of these features. We know that newspapers are written to inform people about news stories and current affairs around the world, the country or a local area. Thinking about the Great Fire of London, we planned and wrote our own newspaper reports, as if we were reporters in London at the time. Our reports included headlines, columns, pictures, captions and direct speech – ask us what these features are and why they are used.
In maths we worked on a selection of arithmetic and reasoning problems involving addition and subtraction to see if we could choose suitable methods to solve them. Later in the week, we looked at ways of using pictorial workings to help us solve problems without needing lots of equipment.
On Friday, we made Tudor houses during our art lesson – ask us how we made them and what the real tudor houses would have been made from.
