This week in English we have continued to read ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’. We have been thinking about the characters and how the plot is developing. We have been continuing to write, edit and improve our letters from Lalchand to Lila.
In Maths we have been learning about mass. We had a go at using scales to measure the weight of various items in the classroom. Then we learnt how to represent mass problems using a bar model.
Class 4 thought about Remembrance Day, we came up with words and phrases and drew them on a poppy. We love how it looks!

On Friday, we had a go at mummifying tomatoes! Firstly, we looked carefully at the appearance of the tomato. We then made a small slit in the tomato and scooped out the inside. Next we replicated natron by using a mixture of table salt and bicarbonate of soda. We stuffed the tomato with the natron. Then we put some of the natron in a cup, placed the tomato in and then finally poured on natron to fill the cup. We will leave the tomatoes to mummify and have a look at them in 2 weeks.
