In English, we have completed our work on The Secret Garden. We finished changing a section of the text into a playscript and then we had a go at performing our scripts. We learnt how to pay particular attention to the stage directions. Later in the week we recapped different types of words and we learnt about when to use apostrophes.
In Maths, we have continued to work on written addition. We used decomposition to write our own missing number and incorrect questions which we were then able to solve. We then made links between the decomposition method and compact column addition. We learnt how important it is to remember our place value knowledge when completing compact column addition questions.
Ask us to explain how to solve 4322 + 4492 =
On Monday afternoon, we created our stop-frame animations. We used Windows Movie Maker to combine all of our photos. We then edited the project by altering the timings and adding a title/ credits. We will be watching and sharing our films after half term.
Tuesday 7th February was Safer Internet Day. We had an assembly in the morning which was all about posting photos online and how to keep ourselves safe. In the afternoon, we thought about this in more detail and we explored first impressions of photographs that we see online. We talked about the importance of these first impressions and we decide how we would like ourselves to be presented online.
Homework & Reading
There has been some excellent homework handed in this week which included two Class 4 cake bakes – a London Eye and Clifton Suspension Bridge!
Half Term – Children who are up to date with their homework are not expected to complete any further work over the half term break, although they are of course welcome to! A new homework grid will be issued on the first day back after half term.
