Dear Parents/ Carers,
This week the children have enjoyed the cold weather and the different outdoor opportunities it has to offer. We have talked about wood changing, becoming slippery but the children also discovered the ice and explored the force needed to break it and its texture. We have talked about why it is important to wrap up warm. Please ensure during this cold weather that your child has a winter coat, gloves, hats and scarfs to keep them warm outside. You may wish to send them a thick pair of socks which they can put on before their boots when going outside.
In Literacy this week the children retold the story of ‘The Elves and the shoe maker with stick puppets’ they used story language and worked together to join their ideas together.
In Maths the children talked about triangles and they now know that triangles have three sides, all the sides might be the same length or they might all be different lengths. The children talked about why shapes were triangles and also why they were not.
The children continue to work on learning their nativity songs and staging with year six. They have enjoyed having year six join them and are very much looking forward to performing next week at their dress rehearsal.
Please remember to read with your child daily and play games with your flashcards. This week in your child’s book bag are the tricky words I, to, no, go and the. These words are not fully decodable for the children so they must learn them by sight.
