We have been learning about the weather and how to measure the rainfall, wind speed and the temperature.
We embraced the terrible wet weather at the beginning of the week and focused on how to measure the rain. We went outside to measure how much rain fell between Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon. We used a rain gauge on the school field to measure how much rain fell. It was 10mm. We also took an anemometer outside to measure the speed of the wind. Unfortunately it was a gusty day so the wind stopped and started but at least we had a go.
Continuing our theme of wolves, we have been reading ‘The Boy who Cried Wolf’.
We have also been reading some non-fiction text to find out about wolves. We have learnt lots of facts (Ask your child what they know about wolves) In addition we have been learning how to draw a wolf’s head and produced some amazing drawings. There is a super example in the entrance hall by George Allen.
In maths lessons we have focused on the vocabulary – more, fewer and equal to. Have a go at home, line up two rows of objects and ask some questions.
Christmas Cakes
On Tuesday 6th December, as part of our Christmas preparations, we plan to make individual iced Christmas cakes. If you would like to take part in this activity, a contribution of £2.50 towards the cost of the ingredients would be most appreciated.
You will need to provide a small, empty, ring-pull tin
( such as a baked bean tin 6cm tall, not a tall tin ) You will also need an apron.
Please bring these into school by Thursday 1st as we hope to make the cakes the following Tuesday.
