Maths
Our Maths understanding is working towards mastery of our negative numbers with greater depth. We can now also work with our number lines either vertically or horizontally. We’ve been using this knowledge to calculate the temperature of getting warmer and colder.
Grammar and English
We have discovered when diagramming our sentences with a preposition, we can also add another preposition!
Our work on Daughter of the Sea is moving onto writing a response to ‘How does the author develop the character of Grandfather Jaffrey?’ Firstly, we need to identify two main paragraph subjects and put those on our fish-bone plans. Then using the ‘rule of 3’ note down by adding specific sentence ideas; shuffled not walked; clears his throat; listens to him and made a passageway. This we can now use to write up each point using P.E.E.
Highlighting with different colours our individual personal targets for improvement we are able to start structuring our writing.
Science
In science we are looking at what the lungs do and how they do it. Air enters the body through breathing in from the nose and mouth. Then the air moves down the trachea and divides between the bronchi into the bronchioles then at last the alveoli where the oxygen gets taken up by the blood.
History
We have been looking into the Battle of the Somme and answering questions like: Who else fought a the battle; Who were the leaders; What happened leading up to the battle; Artillery Barrage and the results.
Homework
We are getting working models of the lungs made from plastic drinks bottles. As well as board games based on the brain and other organs.

WOW – We played each other’s Kodu games! This was fantastic fun.
Our cyber bullying play scripts are mostly finished and have been rehearsing before we get recorded acting them out next term.
