We’ve had a busy week in Class 4 and the children are now really settled into their new routines.
In English, we have started to read ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’ by Phillip Pullman. We have been exploring the characters and the plot. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we imagined that we were Lila and we wrote diary entries describing her journey and determination to get to Mount Merapi. Class 4 have really shown that they are Purple Learners wanting to improve their writing.
In Maths we have been working on place value. We started off looking at ordering and comparing numbers over 1000. Then we moved on to finding 10/100/1000 more/ less than a number. Finally we started working on rounding numbers.
In Computing we experimented with Scratch and over the next few weeks we will be creating stories linked to our English work.
We have started to make Egyptian wrist cuffs in art. We learnt that jewellery was just as important to men in Ancient Egypt as it was to women. We will be finishing these next week.
Please look out for the ‘Takeaway’ homework grids that will have come home this week. Unless a child choses to start with an extra hot piece, a homework task should be handed in by next Friday.
