We had an exciting start to the week with our play on Monday. The children all thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Dick Whittington performance.
Class 3 continued looking at recounts in English. This week we have been using the traditional tale ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ as a stimulus for the recount. We have been acting out the story and taking on the roles of different characters thinking about they would feel at different stages of the story. We planned our recount on Thursday and wrote the first 3 paragraphs on Friday. Next week we will be polishing (improving) the recounts and finishing the piece of writing. We will also begin to look at the story from the troll’s point of view.
In Maths we have been comparing the patterns of multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100.
| E.g. 34 x 10 = 340 | 670 / 10 = 67 |
| 34 x 100 = 3400 | 670 / 100 = 6.7 |
The children have really been enjoying our new topic ‘Where in the world.’ We have already had lots of interesting show and tells come in. On Thursday we finished our ICT session by playing a game that made the children think about the different continents that make up the world. The children enjoyed the game so much I thought I would post the link on here. There are also lots of other games that focus on learning the names of places and landmarks around the world.
