Happy New Year!
We hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas. All of the Class 4 staff would like to say a big ‘Thank you’ for the lovely gifts that we received at the end of last term.
This week in English we have started to look at The Secret Garden (we are using an abridged version). This will be our main text for the next 6 weeks. We have thought about Mary and her personality at the start of the book. We have also been using the text to identify/ understand the different types of sentences and we have been practising using a dictionary to find the definition of words.
In Maths, we have been rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000 – please practise this at home! We have also been revising mental methods for addition/ subtraction.
We started our new geography topic by trying to locate Wallingford / where we live on a map of the UK – we had quite a range of ideas! We also thought about the names and location of counties around the UK.
Homework task for this week – English/ Geography – Mary’s journey to England map and punctuation task.
