What a brilliant start to the term. The children have come back eager and motivated to be ‘extraordinary’ learners.
In collective worship this week we have been talking about what it means to be ‘extraordinary’. Of course, the them
e of ‘Being a Leader and not a Follower’ came up as always. Children talked about making the seemingly impossible become possible. Children also discussed ‘big dreams’ – rather than ‘small dreams’, reaching for the stars and beyond and having great success.
Our teachers started the week with an incredible INSET day with Tim Rylands and Sarah Neild, who showed us how ICT can transform writing in the classroom. On Tuesday, they followed this with observing Tim in the classrooms and seeing how he used different computer programmes to get children talking and inspired about writing.
Further, on Wednesday and Thurday we have had Julia Skinner working in our school to get children ‘blogging’ on her website called the 100 Word Challenge. Hopefully soon you will get to see your child’s published work online, where people from all over the world can comment on their writing. This week has all been about creating a ‘purpose’ for writing and truly thinking ‘outside the box’ to engage and motivate children in their writing – helping them see that they are ‘authors’.
We look forward to you hearing about the writing taking place in the classrooms and even more so, you getting a chance to read them and even comment on them online!
