After half term, we are going to be spending a week on ‘time’ in Maths. If you know this is an area in which you struggle, please use half term to brush up on your skills with the help of your friends and family.
Here are some of the time-telling skills that are required:
· Telling the time on an analogue clock – first o’clock, then ‘half past’, ‘quarter past’ and ‘quarter to’, to the nearest 5 minutes, then to the nearest minute.
· Telling the time on a digital clock, including am and pm (ie. 7:15am, 6:45pm etc.)
· Telling the time in 24hr clock (ie. 07:15, 18:45)
· Finding the difference between times. (I put my cake in the oven at 7.28pm and it takes 35 minutes to cook. When do I take it out?)
· Finding the difference between years. (I was born in 2003. How old am I now? etc.)
Some time-telling activities that you could do:
· Go on a bus/train ride and work out how long the ride will take according to the timetable.
· Bake a cake and work out how long it needs to be in the oven for.
· Use a stopwatch to time your brother doing his homework…
· Look at the tv guide to work out when programmes/films are on and how long they are.
· Work out the duration of sports games
· Use your imagination!
Also, the audition line for the Year 3, 4, 5 play went out earlier this week. If you have not picked one up to learn over half term, please make sure you take one home, if you would like to audition for a speaking part!

The children’s blog for this week
In Netball we have Victorians vs Edwardians and Tudors vs Georgians. We think Georgians and Edwardians will win.
We have had a Hockey match it was the first nil-nil Mr Shorter had ever seen.
In English we have been doing the Lost Happy Endings, making our own style of ending.
In Maths we have been working on Perimeter and Area. Mrs Barlow gave us a challenge ladder with 3 choices to try this week.
Amelia and Zak.
The children are still working on their various Viking Projects. Here is a Viking rap for you to watch. Enjoy!
