What a fantastic first week back at school! The children have all really settled in well and their faces are beaming! The school looks brilliant and the classrooms are vibrant. This year all the teacher’s displays are ‘learning walls.’ This means that displays are all used during lessons to help children’s learning, they are referred to as ‘working walls,’ which means that they are constantly changing and being added to during lessons. To celebrate children’s finished work, pieces will still be displayed on the board outside the office as well as the ‘public’ boards throughout the corridors.
We have started the term off thinking about what it means to be brave. Children have been adding their thoughts to our ‘thought board’ in the hall, thinking about instances where they have shown courage both in and out of school. We have thought about what it means to be ‘brave’ in our learning, taking that step into the challenge zone to try something new and more difficult. In collective worship we have watched the clips below. Ask your children what we discussed regarding the clips and see what they say.
This year the children have been encouraged to be brave in the classroom. As always we will be talking about how mistakes help us to learn and that through making mistakes we can always become that much better.
In order to be brave in our learning we must be prepared to make mistakes…..but more importantly to learn from the mistakes that we make.
