What an achievement to have the design that our year 6 class collaborated on, to be sewn into a real flag to be flown in Parliament square! Alice, whose template was chosen by the class to be submitted, was featured on BBC Radio Oxford. She spoke about the symbolism and why the colours were chosen and how they represented different aspects of our school and local community. ter re-election. Our school’s flag has been chosen to represent Oxfordshire and to stand alongside 78 other flags also representing their counties. Well done year 6! We have come to the end of another exciting and challenging term. We ended with our Multicultural week, that saw American line dancing, the history of Thanksgiving, a full British wedding ceremony at St Mary Magdalene’s, Japanese lanterns, Chinese kites, monkeys in Borneo, Brazilian rainforests, Mexican hats, Tanzanian drumming, Australian Aboriginal artwork and Italian beetle drives. We even had parents come and join in the fun…..Mrs Saunders enticed the year 6 children with Brazilian chocolate and inspired them about life in a diverse Brazil. What a dynamic week! The children travelled with their passports with their house teams from country to country, singing, dancing, painting and learning all about different cultures around our world. We then ended with a fantastic American storyteller (who had only just a couple of hours before, landed at Heathrow!) from the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, lulling the children with his deep, rich, Southern accent. Thank you to Mrs Nixon for arranging him to visit our school.
We now only have one term left. However, this term will fly by as each week is packed full of learning, activities and special events to see us to the end of the year. We hope this half term will reinvigorate you, provide you with rest and energy to give your absolute best in everything that we do…….keep on smiling and keep on demonstrating our key learning values we talk about every day!
