In Year Six this week we have been challenged to try our hardest through beyond our limit in all subjects for the big head up to secondary school. We are also practising for our SATs tests.
English…
On Wednesday we set up the classroom like it would be for SATS, Mr Silvester sat us in alphabetical order for the practice test. Throughout the rest week we have been working on our sentence structure such as complex which has a subordinate and main clause; a compound which has two main clauses and a simple sentence which is a main clause (a main clause is a sentence that makes sense on its own; a subordinate clause doesn’t make sense on its own. These can be in many different places such as the middle the start and the end quite often these are joined by a subordinating conjunction joining a main and a subordinate clause).
Maths…
In maths every one enjoyed doing shape translation, shape tracing and shape rotation around the point anti-clockwise and clockwise. Sometimes this can be very irritating and hard when we can’t do it because some others find it very easy but we work together and help each other. Also towards the end of the week we have been doing mental maths skills and we are getting really good at this.
Prizes…
In September when we all first started Year 6 we were meant to have a pair of a dictionary and a thesaurus. When we found out that our order went wrong we were all very disappointed. This week they arrived and the governor (Tony Crabb who has been in the role for 3 years) presented them to us, Mr Silvester said “This was the perfect time for us to have them because of the amount of word work we have been doing recently.”
This has been a very fun week.
