Week 4 (16/03/2015)

This week we have been classifying animals; we learned about the main features of mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles and insects then grouped our animal pictures accordingly. Ask us to tell you about which creatures belong to each group and why.  We have also been learning about the structure of different animals. Did you know that some creatures have their skeletons on the outside not the inside? Ask us to give you examples.  We sorted animals into those that have a skeleton on the inside (endoskeleton), those that have their skeleton on the outside (exoskeleton) and those that have a squidgy, water-based skeleton (hydrostatic).

Later in the week we investigated some of the other questions about our topic that we’ve been dying to find the answers to! Ask us what they were.

In Maths, we’ve been adding and subtracting 1 digit numbers from 2 digit numbers by counting on and back on number lines and in our heads.

In Art we created self-portraits by looking at ourselves in the mirror!

Next week will be our Spring nature detectives week so, particularly if the weather is bad, please send your child in with wellies and ensure they have a coat at school all week.

TASK:  Who can create a poster or write about ‘The First Signs of Spring’?
